French violinist Laurent Korcia is the recipient of numerous prestigious international awards and has made a substantial international career both as a recitalist and in orchestral concertos. He has a wide-ranging repertoire, including standard works, music by lesser known composers, and newly written pieces. His honors include winning the Paganini Competition, London's Young Concert Artists' Trust, and the Zino Francescatti Competition. He was recognized as "Instrumental Soloist of the Year" in 2002 by Victoire de la Musique, and the same year was appointed Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. Korcia has been soloist with orchestras led by conductors such as Serge Baudo, Semyon Bychkov, Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, Yutaka Sado, Michel Plasson, Kurt Masur, and Yan Pascal Tortelier. His concert engagements have taken him to Europe, the Americas, the Middle and Far East, and Australia. He has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to new music and has played the premieres of works by Henze, Edith Canat de Chizy, and Bruno Calais. His recordings include music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Kreisler, Fauré, Ravel, Janácek, Ysaÿe, Bartók, Martinu, Piazzolla, and Fazil Say. His recordings have received awards from Gramophone Magazine, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Diapason d'Or, Strad, and BBC Music Magazine. His 2009 album, Cinema, was followed by a TV special, Laurent Korica: Cinema, Live at the Folies Bergère.
