Candy is an independent rock band founded in 2006 in Mexico City. They started making noise and released their first post-punk new-wave album 'Stranger' as part of the early days of the now extinct indie label Diablito Records. They then produced their second album 'Control' with Grammy winner Café Tacvba's Joselo Rangel and Ro Velázquez, which was described as "a mixture of gritty rock and luminescent pop melodies" by Remezcla. After playing all over Mexico, touring in Spain, playing three times at Latin America's most important festival Vive Latino, opening for the Misfits, showcasing at SXSW, and being nominated several times at the Mexican Indie-O Music Awards and Spain's indie awards, they released their third album 'Atlas' under Phil Vinall in 2016. This album has been described as "a peculiar combination of soft voices with powerful riffs, keeping the powerful guitars that characterize them in the past while showing how time has helped them to reinvent themselves with the help of synthesizers" by Rolling Stone Mexico. Valentina Plasa and Michael Klotz created synthwave darkpop Berlin-based duo Tristan Tricks, Angel Vargas formed the electropop Mexico-City-based duo Quiltros and Hector Villagomez is part of Mexican rock band Ionisio.
