    Before pop punk became a cultural touchstone, it existed as a subculture within a subculture, bolstered by a groundswell of grassroots support from people who were ready to move beyond the strict confines of punk and hardcore. By the turn of the century, the genre had officially eked its way into the mainstream, due in no small part to the efforts of acts like The Movielife, Bayside and Saves The Day. New York’s Original Sharks carries on that rich, nearly three decades old tradition of top notch East Coast pop punk. Featuring members of Such Gold, The Swellers and former Shai Hulud, Original Sharks brings the strongest components of the members’ previous acts to the table. While pop punk is easy to get wrong, its appeal is hard to deny when it’s done this right. Masterful melodic sensibilities, singable hooks, excellent leads, and a watertight rhythm section work in tandem to create anthemic, energetic songs that will appeal to any fan of the genre.
