jupiter flynn is a young singer-songwriter born in Amsterdam. She started composing short songs on the piano at the age of six, has lived in Tokyo, New York , Sydney and Frankfurt, and is now based in Berlin. It all began with half a year down under, where jupiter flynn taught herself to play the intro of “Adventure Time” on the ukulele. Upon returning to Europe, she found herself in a difficult situation. With her best friend gone and her first love going to shambles, life was just too much to handle. It was at this low point that she learned to use music as a coping mechanism. Whenever the world came rushing in, music was a safe haven - her ultimate lifeline. Inspired by the likes of Cavetown she started composing again. Seeing that her songs touched and helped people around her, encouraged her to keep going. She also has a longstanding fascination for space (her name was inspired by a character from the novel “These Broken Stars”) and wants to play her guitar in space one day. Judging from what she has accomplished in these first 19 years of her life, we think that she just might. jupiter flynn just recorded her debut album with producer Pola Roy (former drummer of Wir Sind Helden) in his studio in Berlin, Kreuzberg. Her compositions are of a fragile, light-footed indie-pop quality, while her husky voice and dark coming-of-age lyrics form a strong counterpart that lends her work a captivating depth.
