Biyografi
b. Doretta Marano, 27 January 1928, New York City, New York, USA, d. 28 February 1968, London, England. This silver-voiced singer appeared on Broadway in Where’s Charley? (1948), and was then cast as Tuptim in Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II’s The King And I (1950), and was thus the singer to introduce ‘We Kiss In A Shadow’ and, in duet with Larry Douglas, ‘I Have Dreamed’. After appearing in a television production of Knickerbocker Holiday (1950) and in the film Because You’re Mine (1952), with Mario Lanza, she returned to Broadway. She played Marsinah in Robert Wright and George Forrest’s Kismet (1953), in which it fell to her to introduce ‘Baubles, Bangles And Beads’ and ‘Stranger In Paradise’. In 1955, Morrow reprised this role in the show’s London production. She toured the USA in Fanny in 1957 and that same year was in the London production of Cole Porter’s Aladdin. After marrying, Morrow retired from the stage but died of cancer not many years later.
