Soprano Julia Lezhneva first gained international attention at the age of 17 when she won the first Elena Obraztsova International Competition for Young Vocalists. In 2007 she opened the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro with Juan Diego Flórez. 2019/20 season: debuts with Berlin Philharmonic and Musikverein Vienna and returned to Salzburg Mozartwoche Festival. She has made regular guest appearances with well-known orchestras such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra and conductors as Ádám Fischer, Giovanni Antonini, Herbert Blomstedt, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Paavo Järvi, Vladimir Jurowski and Andrea Marcon. March 2021 debut with Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. 2018 debut at the Hamburg State Opera as Morgana (Alcina), return as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and in 2021 as Poppea in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Handel’s Agrippina. Further roles: Vivaldi’s Angelica (Orlando furioso), Porpora’s Ersinda (Germanico in Germania) and Gildippe (Carlo il Calvo), Mozart’s Susanna and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro). 2019 Salzburg Whitsun Festival: Galatea in Porporas Polifemo.
