Namali Kwaten (NK-OK) and David Mrakpor (MR DM) first met in the hallways of WAC Arts when Namali was thirteen and David eighteen .They progressed to Londons famous Tomorrows Warriors where they developed their eclectic range and understanding of jazz arrangement. Now 22 and 27 ,what began as a sharing of ideas and jamming in NK-OK’s blue bedroom became a ritualistic musical journey, The jam sessions led to the duo’s first EP project Blue Skies charted in 12 countries .Their early successes lead to notable plays on the UK's Top Radio Stations BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room and more. Amassing over 500K+ views online of their live session for Jazz FM. Representing London’s reinvigorated contemporary jazz scene, Blue Lab Beats sound merged into a kaleidoscopic fusion of Hip Hop, R&B ,Jazz & Afrobeat.Their recent trip to Ghana had DJ's coining the new term "Jafrobeat" because their sound meshed Afrobeat and Jazz so effortlessly. Each Album project also had accompanying E.P's packed with both instrumental and vocal songs.In 2020 Blue Lab signed to the historic label Blue Note Records . Arguably the fastest-rising Jazztronica production duo in the world right now. Sets at Glastonbury and WOMAD have followed support slots for Thundercat and Roy Ayers. They Joined Paul McCartney, Stormzy and Skepta on Apple’s flagship advert.Remixes and production credits now include Angelique Kidjo,Boj Davido Mr Ezee,Dua Lipa,Kelvynboy,Rag N Bone Man & Laura Mvula.
