Stefanos Korkolis was born in Athens. At the age of 5 he was described as a child prodigy. He earned his piano diploma from the Athens Conservatory. Traveled to Paris to continue his studies with the support of a French national scholarship, and while there he concurrently attended courses in composition, orchestration, orchestra direction, and film scoring, guided by Yvonne Lefebure, Vladimir Horowitz, Pierre Bulez etc. He has collaborated with major orchestras worldwide as well as artists such as Alfredo Kraus, Jose Carreras, Teresa Berganza, Dulce Pontes, Lucio Dala, Ennio Morricone, and Astor Piazzola. Also important are his collaborations with Vicky Leandros, Nana Mouskouri as well as elite Greek performers such as G. Dalaras, A. Protopsaltis, D.Mitropanos and D. Galani and others. Korkolis has performed over 5000 concerts and sold over 6 million records worldwide. Mikis Theodorakis has used him as an ambassador for his music in Greece and abroad. Recently his new album, I Want this Memory to Tell, was released and features the excellent vocalist Sofia Manousakis. The double CD album, which contains orchestral works inspired by the poetry of the great C.P. Cavafy, quickly went gold and received excellent reviews.
