There's very little room to make any mistake with the platform that rappers get with Hip Hop. Rappers can see all the success they've obtained in their career get taken away at the snap of a finger, and it can happen in many ways. For GUN40, life came at him fast, and he almost lost everything one fateful night before he could make a fundamental change to his life. Born in Memphis, Tennessee but raised in Dallas, Texas, GUN40 has been in love with music his whole life. Music was all around GUN40, from his mother playing tunes while cleaning the home or his dad playing bass guitar. There isn't a moment that GUN40 could recall that music wasn't around him. 
 The very first concert GUN40 experienced was a Waka Flocka Flame show that changed his life. The energy Waka and his fans were bouncing off each other was undeniable, and GUN40 felt every bit of it. At that moment, a young man knew what he wanted to do with his life. GUN40 wanted to recreate the same feeling that fans took in at that show. GUN40 began working on his craft and adopted a sound he calls Trap Rage, which he says is inspired by fellow ragers like Playboi Carti, Travis Scott and more. It incorporates various forms of Hip Hop, pop, R&B and more for a sound anyone can enjoy. He also became a skilled songwriter on top of becoming a promising solo artist, and through hard work and dedication, GUN40 embarked on a rap career that saw him sign a deal with Def Jam Records.
