If it weren’t for the fact that both Miri and Mattie were each the tokenized female (and queer) members of their respective bands, Queen of Jeans may have never existed. Their mutual frustration became the glue that bonded them together, and gave them a chance to finally create the kind of music they wanted to make, inspired by both their experiences plus a wide range of artists like St. Vincent, Camera Obscura, and Fiona Apple. And after months of “casually online-dating drummers,” they found their unicorn in Patrick Wall, who brings a unique pop rhythm to their stylistically-varied sound. 
 Hiding In Place is the first new music from Philly's Queen of Jeans in nearly three years, and the EP finds vocalist Miriam Devora doing just that—hiding in place. Time both stood still and flew by when her longstanding job at a community-run movie theatre ground to an obvious halt in 2020. 
 While her partner and QOJ guitarist Mattie Glass worked long hours at a local corner shop, Miri's mind raced with thoughts about what was happening in the world around her and what it might have been like for her mother, who had passed away just before the recording of QOJ's fantastic 2019 album if you’re not afraid, I’m not afraid.
