Jeff Cascaro has developed an impressive sound aesthetic through his past studio albums. Soul of a Singer (2006), Mother and Brother (2008), The Other Man (2012) as well as Love and Blues in the City (2017) are timeless sound documents of soul jazz. For almost two decades, the first-class singer and trumpeter has been thrilling audiences with handmade music at the intersection of jazz, soul and blues. The quality of his musical performances has taken him to almost all major festivals, but also to small clubs. Over the past few years, jazz singer Jeff Cascaro has made soul jazz popular in Germany like nobody else. Now he is turning to classic jazz with the same passion, but remains true to a bluesy basic colouring in the selection of songs and ballads. The stage programme "love & blues in the city" alternates between classical jazz pieces and rhythm'n'blues & blues tunes. Throughout, however, the music is played with jazzy ease and it skilfully combines the nonchalance of swing with the rough groundedness of the blues. This widely diverse music is presented in an excellent quartet formation with a lot of space for dynamics and vocal finesse. The result is very emotional music with a lot of groove, mixing the finest vocal parts with improvisations. At the centre of the action is the warm singing voice of Jeff Cascaro, who acts in the tradition of the great jazz singers. Music for later hours.
