“As a name, Maximum Joy couldn’t be more apt: theirs is music of uncommon passion, a giddy celebration of music and of life itself” Formed in 1979, Bristol band, Maximum Joy was originated by Janine Rainforth (singer /violin/clarinet) and Tony Wrafter (saxophonist/trumpeter, previously of another Bristol band, Glaxo Babies), they recruited former Glaxo Baby drummer Charlie Llewellin and bassist Dan Catsis and guitarist John Waddington (ex-Pop Group. They produced 4 singles- A' Sides were - Stretch; In The Air; White & Green Place; Why Can't We Live Together and 1 LP - Station MXJY. The line-up changed during this time to include bassist Kev Evans; percussionist Nellee Hooper (Wild Bunch)and trumpet/keys Jeremy Hirsch. In 2015 Janine spearheaded the reforming of the band for Simple Things Bristol UK. Since then she and Charlie formed a new outfit @MXMJoY. Janine also makes solo music now under @Rainforth and is set to release new music soon.
