Hanging Up The Moon started off as the solo project of Sean Lam, ex-frontman of Concave Scream, one of Singapore's pioneer indie bands. Recorded entirely in his study in the wee hours of the morning, the self-titled debut album was a stripped-down affair, its quiet sound captivating both critics and listeners alike. In the albums that followed, Hanging Up The Moon explored different soundscapes with the help of good friends and fellow veterans of the local music scene: Alexius Cai (Piblokto), Dean Aziz (Concave Scream), Leslie Low (The Observatory) and Victor Low (Affixen). The band has since released 3 vinyl LPs and is currently preparing for the launch of "For The Time Being", Hanging Up The Moon's fifth release and first EP. Inspired by their recent Japan and Taiwan touring experience as well as the warm friendships struck up along the way, the songs on this EP are uncharacteristically upbeat in their instrumentation. The lyrics however retain the wistfulness so signature of Hanging Up The Moon, touching on loss and resignation - a musical counterpart of the fleeting smile elicited by forgotten old photographs of treasured times. For The Time Being is released by Big Romantic Records and features Skip Skip Ben Ben's Lin Yiloh, a friend made on the trip and a fellow musician under the label. The EP is available digitally and as a 7-inch vinyl.
