In January 2018, Miljardid had a great night at the Estonian Music Awards – they took home an award in every category they were nominated in, incl Album of The Year. So what was so special about it? Maybe the fact that their debut album “Kunagi läänes” (“Once in The West”) had been released only two and a half months before. Miljardid hit the “bull`s eye” with that record. Its perfection was something everyone could agree on – fans & journalists alike. It turned them into one of the most loved bands in Estonia. But the foundation to the success was laid years before when poet-extraordinnaire Marten Kuningas formed a band for his solo efforts. From the very beginning it was clear it`s not your average group of musicians – Marten invited the best instrumentalists to play with him on the stage as well as in the studio. That band evolved into Miljardid. Marten`s 2014 solo album “Praktiline Mees” (Practical Man) introduced us the songwriting duo Marten Kuningas / Raul Ojamaa (guitars). Their collaboration track “Tagurpidi Vaal” became an instant classic and was the very first song in Estonian to pass the one-million mark on Spotify. “Savi” is their brand new song from the upcoming sophomore album “Ma luban, et ma muutun” (I promise I will change). “To put it bluntly – it`s about sex, passion and opportunism.”, comments the lead singer, Marten.
