California's Anjali Ranadivé (aka Anjali World) is a gifted R&B singer/songwriter and marine conservationist whose music incorporates electronic dance, Bollywood, and hip-hop influences. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1992, Ranadivé grew up in a creative, socially minded family, the daughter of Indian-American businessman Vivek Ranadivé and American philanthropist Debra Addicott. As a child, she developed two passions: a love for both marine life and pop music. The first grew out of numerous family visits to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and later her jobs working at various conservation centers and animal shelters. The second came to her via her mother's love of musical theater. Interested in music from a young age, Ranadivé was first introduced to singing via her mother and later developed her skills as a member of a local women's chorus. She also gained early exposure to hip-hop and R&B by watching her brother produce tracks in his home studio. However, it was her commitment to protecting marine animals that led her first to earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from UC Berkeley in 2013. After graduating, she founded the marine wildlife conservation nonprofit Jaws & Paws. Along the way, she continued to work on her music, citing such influences as Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, and TLC, as well as Bollywood musicals and classical Indian traditions. Open-mike nights followed, as did a self-produced mixtape. Relocating to Los Angeles after college, Ranadivé (by now performing as Anjali World) caught the attention of manager/producer Dave Knott (aka Super Dave), who took her under his wing and helped her develop her sound. In 2014, Anjali World released her debut single, "We Turn Up," featuring rapper French Montana. A year later, she returned with the EP Brave New World, which included the singles "Nobody" featuring Tyga and "Bad Boy Good." ~ Matt Collar
