    1814 are a New Zealand reggae band from Kaeo based in the Far north. Patu and his sons, Shaun and Jimmy Colbert started the band in 2004. “We found our sound while performing in church, supporting community events around Northland that gave us the opportunity to play our own material and it sort of started from there" The name 1814 was taken from the year the Gospel arrived in NZ at Oihi bay by a man named Samuel Marsden, who held the first sermon there on the 25th December 1814. This is the inspiration and foundation of our band, delivering a message of peace, love and unity to all people throughout the land. The band includes, Erana Colbert - keyboards, Darren Katene - lead vocal, Neihana Harrison - vocals, Danielle Selwyn - vocals, Tihema Cooper - guitar and Zane Graham - Drums. 1814 have had the privilege to tour and play alongside many bands and musicians in the last 2 decades, both internationally and locally. The Wailers, UB40, Third World, Damien Marley, Nas, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Jimmy Cliff, Maxi Priest, Kymani Marley, Big Mountain,Katchafire, Sons of Zion, House of Shem, LAB to name a few.
