Biyografi
Recalling post-punk legends like Joy Division and Bauhaus as well as 21st century keepers of the flame such as Battles and Liars, Beijing's Re-TROS (short for Rebuilding the Rights of Statues) feature vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Hua Dong, bassist/vocalist/keyboardist Liu Min, and drummer Huang Jin. The group formed during the underground Chinese rock renaissance of the early 2000s when Dong, the former drummer of the band P.K.14, returned to his Nanjing hometown after studying in Germany and joined forces with future wife Min. By 2005, the trio had signed to leading Chinese indie label Modern Sky and recorded its debut EP, Cut Off!, which featured Brian Eno -- who happened to be recording some Afternoon Ambient Works at the label's studio when the band was there -- on keyboards. Between the EP and 2009's full-length Watch Out! Climate Has Changed, Fat Mum Rises..., Re-TROS' activities included their live debut in the U.S. The band continued to refine and experiment in the 2010s, and released Before the Applause in 2017. Recorded with and mixed by Héctor Castillo in Beijing and Brooklyn, the album incorporated more electronics as well as industrial and dub influences. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
