Oceans are a shoegaze five piece band based in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia. At the heart of our music is a dedication to experimentation and timbre - fusing various genres together to create unique sonic landscapes inspired by ambient, new wave and 90s shoegaze. Our debut EP “Come So Far” released in 2021 is the first fledgling foray into our sounds and influences whilst pulling together a variety of musical genres. Our follow up EP was a collaboration with UK band Wilt who created a heavier shoegaze landscape to write lyrics over, exploring the feelings of loss and longing. The EP was written and recorded on opposite sides of the world, but was able to be realised through a shared love of shoegaze music that brought us together. Our debut full length album “Dreamers in Dark Cities” is set for release in early 2023 and reflects the bleak and dreary landscape of the extended lockdown periods experienced in Melbourne and all around the world when the album was written. It explores the feelings of isolationism and turning inwards to find yourself when your connections to the outside world have been cut off.
