Amsterdam based artist Dieter van der Westen worked with with well known Dutch artists such as BLØF, The Lau, Frank Boeijen and the Metropool orchestra. He plays Americana, Rootsfolk and Indiefolk with his own band and acoustic duo with his brother, Eric van der Westen. In 2021 the Van der Westen brothers record an album together; "The Sun Will Rise Again" An album filled with acoustic Folk and Americana songs on love and hope. The Sun Will Rise Again is released in march / april 2021. While Eric van der Westen (57), performs at the world stages such as The Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall with Turkish superstar Sezen Aksu, , his brother Dieter van der Westen (46) plays at the largest festivals in North Africa with his Dutch-Moroccan festival band Kasba. In the crisis the brothers decide to record an album with self-written Americana and folk songs, a genre they both love already for years. Ferdi Lancee (V.O.F. De Kunst, Gare du Nord) appears as a guest on the acoustic guitar. In 2018 the Dieter van der Westen band releases their debut album "Me and you" in Paradiso Amsterdam and receives great reviews “ One of the best albums ever made on Dutch soil in this genre of music” is one of the enervating quotes written on the album. Renowned music magazine OOR also classified the new album as “an album to cherish“. In 2017 Dieter van der Westen's solo album "Old Oak Tree" was named one of the best albums made that year by the infuential quality music magazine HEAVEN.
