With over a decade in the game, Villainy are one of New Zealand’s most beloved and successful rock bands. Villainy burst onto the scene in 2012 with their debut album ‘Mode. Set. Clear.’. The album debuted top ten on the NZ Albums Chart, had three Rock Radio Chart number ones with ‘Alligator Skin’, ‘Gather Yourselves’ and ‘Another Time’, and won Best Rock Album at the Aotearoa Music Awards. ‘Dead Sight’ followed up in 2015, debuting in the top 5 on the NZ Albums Chart. The single ‘Safe Passage’ hit #1 on the NZ Rock Chart and Villainy won their second gong for ‘Best Rock Album’ at the Aotearoa Music Awards. The band released their third album ‘Raised in the Dark’ in 2019. Hitting #2 on the NZ Albums Chart, with singles ‘Dreams’ and ‘-CUT-’ each going to #1 on the NZ Rock Radio Chart. The album landed the Best Rock Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards, completing a hat trick. Stalwarts of the live scene, the band have supported heavyweight acts including AC/DC, Incubus, The Offspring, Billy Talent, and Halestorm. They have played festivals such as Big Day Out, Homegrown, Rock in the Park, Big Sound, and have seen many sold out shows and tours over the past decade. Most recently the band have been working with UK based producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For a Friend) on their new single ‘The Launch’. They have also released and sold-out a 10 year anniversary edition vinyl of their debut album ‘Mode. Set. Clear.’ with their eyes on the globe in 2023.
