Thousand Yard Stare were formed in 1988 in the not so rural surrounds of Slough, Berkshire, quickly building up a strong following, leading to their debut EP Weatherwatching in 1990, with the NME nominating them as “brightest hope for the future” and gaining a solid reputation for energetic live performances. In 1991, the Keepsake and Seasonstream EPs reached the top spot in both the NME and Melody Maker Indie Charts, onto Reading Festival, and as support for James in in the Autumn. Next release - Comeuppance - reached 37 in the UK singles chart, and signalled the release of their debut LP Hands On, produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur). Touring across Europe with Jesus & Mary Chain and the US with the Soup Dragons, a coveted slot at Glastonbury Festival, and the cover of Melody Maker followed . before bowing out in 1993 with the release of their 2nd album Mappamundi. Out of the blue in 2015, a sold out re-union gig in London's led to a UK tour and festival appearances, followed by LP Live At Electric in 2016, capturing the frisson of their live sound. In 2017, the band released their first studio material in 24 years via a double EP DeepDreaming/StarGrazing. Now in 2020 comes their first LP in 27 years, The Panglossian Momentum, their finest hour. “We just fizzled out back in 93, and has always felt like un-finished business. We decided to record some new material to scratch that itch, evoking the vigour of our past but with the spirit of how we are now. ”
