大阪梅田駅の歩道橋で行われていたサイファー（輪になり即興でラップをするセッション）の参加者から派生した集合体。多くのメンバーがラップバトルで輝かしい成績を残し、R-指定を代表に全国区のラッパーを輩出してきた。上下関係はなく、リーダーの存在はおろか結成の話があったわけでもない。あくまで個人の集まりでありグループでないことが特徴。”ラッパー同士の繋がりから生まれた自由な関係性”そのものが梅田サイファーと言える。映像作家、デザイナー、トラックメイカーなどの顔を持つメンバーもおり、その活動は多岐に渡る。 A gathering of rappers who participated in a cypher (a freestyle rap sessions gone in a circle) held on a footbridge in front of Umeda Station in Osaka. Many of the members have achieved brilliant results in rap battles and became nationally known rappers, including R-Shitei. They hold themselves open to all the members, with no hierarchical relationship, no leader, no official announcement of their formation. They see themselves not as a group but only a gathering of individuals. “Free Relationship born from the connection between rappers” is what Umeda Cypher is all about. With some of the members works as filmmakers, designers, and track-makers, they perform in a wide range of activities.
