EZ Basic is an indie-pop project based in Budapest, HU. Originally formed as a lo-fi alternative duo in the 00s, their music gradually shifted towards pop structures (influenced by various retro-futuro acts, cinema, new wave and psych-pop), making them one of the most exciting bands on the local indie scene. Their latest album, ’Resonance’ was released in October 2021: ’Inspired by German writer/sociologist, Hartmut Rosa's concept of ’resonance’ (and our strained relationship with accelerated modern society), fuelled by lockdown alienation, and copious amounts of vintage psychedelic-pop and folk consumed, the new EZ Basic album emerged from a combination of the above. When I started writing, I imagined the songs as 3-minute floating memories, with a slightly apocalyptic undertone to them, from a nostalgic, pastel-coloured world. The perfect person to capture this mood on camera as well was Hungarian photographer Marietta Varga, who shot the cover photo for both the album and the singles.' – Árpád Szarvas / EZ Basic
