Adelaide's "The Mad Turks from Istanbul" original members Charles Jenkins and Dominic Silvestri formed Icecream Hands in Melbourne, Australia in 1992. Drummer Derek G Smiley was recruited and after releasing their debut EP "Icecream Hands?" bassist Douglas Lee Robertson completed the lineup. 1993 saw the release of their first album "Travelling Made Easy". . 1994's "Memory Lane Traffic Jam" featured singles "Supermarket Scene", "Olive" and "Here we go 'round now". Marcus Goodwin replaced Silvestri to record 1999's ARIA nominated "Sweeter than the Radio". Engineered and co produced by Wayne Connolly, the album featured the singles "Nipple", "Dodgy" and "Yellow and Blue". 2000 saw the release of the band's fourth album "Broken UFO", recorded by Shane O'Mara, with singles "Beautiful Fields", "Why'd ya have to leave me this way?", "When the Show is Over" and ARIA nominated "Rain Hail Shine". In 2004, Rubber Records released "You Can Ride my Bike", featuring singles from all their albums. The band regrouped in 2007 to record "The Good China" engineered and co produced by Jimi Maroudas. In 2019 the band regrouped for an Australian tour and vinyl release to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their much-lauded album "Sweeter than the Radio". Riding the wave of excitement after the anniversary tour, the band hit the studio for the first time in 13 years and released their brand new album No Weapon But Love in August 2020.
