Tolyqyn is a three piece rock/jazz band founded by Roland Satterwhite (Moka Efti Orchestra, Django Lassi) in Berlin featuring the invented "plucked viola" style. The band is defiantly cross-genre exploring psychedelic rock, jazz, Afro-cuban rhythms, West African kora music, high life groove and folk folk music. Sounds like a mixture of Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Pat Thomas, Kwashibu Area Band. Their self-titled debut was released to critical acclaim, garnering praise across German radio and press, web blogs and led to their national TV debut on German national TV. Following the release of its debut, the band has toured extensively across festivals and stages in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and Denmark including International Music Meeting, (NL) Tollwood (DE), Traumzeit (DE) and Copenhagen Jazz Fest (Roots & Jazz). The band is currently recording its next release, due for release in mid 2023.
