An Emotional Fish are an alternative rock band formed in Dublin, Ireland in the Summer of 1988. Band members: Gerard Whelan aka Jerry Fish - Vox / Enda Wyatt - Bass / David Frew - Guitar / Martin Murphy - Drums. An Emotional Fish were courted and signed to Atlantic Records by the labels legendary founder Ahmet Ertegun in 1990 and went on to release three albums worldwide: “An Emotional Fish’ ‘Junk Puppets’ and the independently produced ‘Sloper’ The band’s eponymously entitled first album included the ‘alt rock’ classic ‘Celebrate’ A top 10 hit record in Ireland, Top 45 in the U.K. and top 5 hit on U.S. College Radio in 1990. Celebrate’ was covered by Italian singer Vasco Rossi for his 1993 Album ‘Gli Spari Sopra’ this version went platinum 10 times in Italy. The band re-recorded ‘Celebrate’ in 2012 for inclusion in the ‘comedy slasher’ movie ‘Stitches’ Album #2 ‘Junk Puppets’ was produced by Dave A Stewart, Alan Moulder and Clive Langer. Album #3 ‘Sloper’ independently produced by AEF After years recording and touring the globe, including performing alongside; Nirvana, Sonic Youth, The Cramps, The Ramones, Depeche Mode and U2 on their ZOO TV tour, An Emotional Fish called it a day around 1996. The band’s beloved drummer Martin Murphy passed away in January 2017. An Emotional Fish reformed for a tribute performance at Feile Classical in Temple Stadium Sept. 2018. The story continues… An Emotional Fish last performed at the 3 Arena, Dublin October 2021.
