Almost from the moment she could reach the keys of a piano Carys Selvey knew she wanted to be a songwriter. Obsessed with music from childhood, she started writing her own songs at the age of six, and quickly found something that made her feel truly complete. A prodigal talent, she got her first publishing deal at just 14. Developing her own voice, Carys began to pursue her own material, before deciding the timing simply wasn’t right. “I think I was putting too much pressure on myself and realised I wasn’t ready to be putting music out when I wasn’t entirely sure who I was as a person let alone an artist. I wanted to give myself more time to write music and to figure that out." So that’s what she did. Carys is now ready to share her new music the first step in what is destined to be long and successful journey. She keeps her inspirations broad and this what makes her music so unexpected, absorbing and individual. “I really buy into music where the lyrics are honest. I think it’s easy to play it safe, but I want to stay very true to myself.” With new music on the way Carys Selvey is set to light up the music scene over the next 12 months, working entirely on her own terms. She’s independent, and a force to be reckoned with. “The best thing about right now is I love what I am doing and I am happy with my music. I have a load of new music I am working on and I really feel this is the start of something.”
