King Coya is Gaby Kerpel, a reknowed music composer and producer who blends traditional Colombian cumbia and Argentine folklore with electronic music. His credits include the score to theatre companies "De La Guarda" and "Fuerza Bruta" and records "Carnabailito" (Nonesuch 2001), Terraplén (with Diego Vainer and Daniel Martín) (Universal 2010) both produced by Gustavo Santaolalla ; and "Tira torito" with andean singer Balvina Ramos. "Cumbias de Villa Donde", (ZZK 2009) is a collection of original down-tempo, electro folklorica that bridges indigenous music with global dance, featuring La Yegros, who later releases her two albums “Viene de Mi” (ZZK/Waxploitation/Parlaphone 2013) and "Magnetismo" (Waxplotation/Soundway/2016) produced by King Coya, with big success in Europe. He also made remixes for Brazilian Girls, Julieta Venegas, Gotan Project, Amadou & Mariam, Petrona Martinez, Chancha Via Circuito, Magin Diaz and many others. His new live show incorporates dance trio “Queen Cholas”. Their powerful performance based in unity between music, dance and audience takes indigenous rituals to the global dance floor. ZZK Records just released the single "Algo" featuring La Yegros, as an advance of his new album Tierra de King Coya to be released next June.
