Forming in Melbourne, Blackchords quickly made a name for themselves with their chilling yet beautiful debut album, produced by award winning composer and producer Nick Batterham. The band enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and rave reviews and was shortlisted for the 2010 AMP award. “Melbourne quartet shoots for the stars on widescreen debut” – Rolling Stone. After extensive national touring, the band travelled to France and the UK, touring and playing festivals. The music video for the band's second single ‘At World's End’ received a lot of attention on MTV UK and NME TV. Returning to Australia, Blackchords opened for Australian icons Powderfinger at Melbourne’s iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Soon after, they recorded the dark and majestic title track ‘As Night Falls’ for the Australian feature film ‘Blame’. In 2012 the band embarked on their sophomore album ‘A Thin Line’ Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer David Odlum and Red Room's Mark Stanley. The band explored more electronica and deeper soundscapes even diving into the subconscious realms of dreams. The album features 'Into the Unknown' which has been heard across the globe in TV series like 'Suits', 'Orange Is the New Black'. The Band is now back and gearing up to release new music with a cinematic post-rock sound that takes us on a thought-provoking journey through psychedelic, sonic landscapes in search of our place in the world.
