BILLON is the alias of DJ/producer Ed Butler who has firmly established himself as a contender in the international music scene. Delivering tastefully crafted dance tracks, as popular on radio as they are on dance floors, and skilful remixes of high-profile artists including Avicii, Childish Gambino and Jonas Blue. BILLON rose to prominence in 2014 after uploading “Turn it Around” and “Hurt Me” to Soundcloud, with DJs including Skream, Annie Mac & Mistajam giving the tracks early support on Radio 1. Next, BILLON released the “Turn It Around” EP, receiving praise from Pitchfork. The same year he collaborated with American singer Maxine Ashley on “Special”; a breakthrough release that gained popularity in the U.K and U.S, paving the way for an American tour. “Dive in EP'' landed in 2015, featuring Grammy winning producer Todd Edwards, followed by “Slave to the Vibe'' in 2016 receiving heavy support from BBC Radio 1. Meanwhile he co-wrote and produced songs for Raleigh Ritchie, Nina Nesbitt and Dan Caplen, Butler continued to tour and host mix shows on Rinse and Kiss FM. In 2019 “They Know”, a melodic instrumental track dropped under the name Ed Butler. When Patrick Topping closed his Glastonbury set with it, DJs including Virgil Abloh and Tiesto took note and championed the track, and Pete Tong crowned it his Essential New Tune. In June 2020 BILLON returned with “Release Me” featuring Rationale. Debuted by Pete Tong on Radio 1, with another EP due in 2021.
