Inspired by the human desire to understand the unknown, YULA began writing music as an outlet to explore his mind. Unable to be tied down to a single genre, the Southern California-based producer, singer, and songwriter’s creations are developed using the sounds and sentiments that authentically come to him. The astral style and raw lyrics at the heart of YULA’s compositions embody the feelings we tend to ignore, like fear and sadness, and encourage listeners to embrace the emotions buried deep within themselves. YULA’s creative universe expands beyond his music. The audio and visual components of YULA’s releases are deeply intertwined as he combines the power of film and imagery to evoke emotion with the energy of electronic music. YULA focuses on implementing live instruments and experimenting with real sounds drawing inspiration from film composers like Hans Zimmer and the audiovisual styles of Porter Robinson, Rufus Du Sol, and Tourist. As YULA’s story develops, he challenges us to face rather than fear the unknown. Also to embrace the emotions that accompany us on our journey through a vastly complex universe.
