The Other End’s debut album «The Sun Will Do You Good, They Said» is out now! 6/6 - «Sensational debut» Øyvind Rønning, Dagbladet The album is produced and mixed by Cato «Salsa» Thomassen, and features Olaf Olsen (Bigbang) on drums, Chris Holm (Orions Belte, Sondre Lerche) on bass guitar, as well as contributions from Morten Qvenild (Susanna and the Magical Orchestra), Erik Johannessen (Jaga Jazzist), Oslo Strings and Thea (and the Wild) Glenton Raknes. While the band in earlier releases have described their music as slowcore, the new songs are more varied, in a higher tempo, and feature garage, indie pop, americana, country and folk. The Other End is inspired by artists such as Laura Marling, Waxahatchee, Kacey Musgraves, Weyes Blood, Mitski, Neil Young, Julia Jacklin, The Band and Marlon Williams. The lyrical content is centered around longing, vulnerability and strength, while the compositions experiment with odd chord progressions and tunings, as well as serve the genres with more traditional song writing. The Other End have played at SXSW, Øya Festival and Vill Vill Vest, and have been labeled «… one of the most exciting new bands from Scandinavia.» (NBHAP). NPR Music named them one of the top 100 SXSW artists, coining their music as «haunting and gorgeous». In 2019 the band moved to Berlin to write their debut album, and after a long pandemic and over a year of recordings, the album is finally out!
