Cantora, compositora cearense. Mona Gadelha is an experienced singer who has been discovered slowly. She started in music in the '70s, in Fortaleza CE, where she used to sing her own compositions in local bands like Kaleidoscópio and Emoções Perigosas. With the latter, she recorded a single and toured the Northeast. After finishing college, she moved to São Paulo SP in 1985 and worked as a journalist. In 1994 she became executive producer of independent records. Her first album was co-produced by her and released through Movieplay in 1996. The album received favorable reviews and had "Cinema Noir," "Imagine Nós," and "Cor de Sonho" included in some radio stations' playlists. "Cinema Noir" was included on the compilation A Gema do Novo, produced by Rádio Musical FM (SP). Her video for that song was presented on MTV Brazil and on cable TV in Mexico, Spain, and Portugal. Her "Crepúsculo de Uma Deusa" was included on Eliana Printes' album, which reached the Top Ten in several Brazilian cities, including Rio. Gadelha's second album, Cenas & Dramas, was released in 1999, having the track "Johnny Vai Pra Guerra?" included in the Spanish FNAC compilation Music of the Caribbean and Latin America. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
