Formed in San Juan, Puerto Rico in early 2015, Late Night Drive are the self-reflective powerhouse through which songwriter, rhythm guitarist and singer Jan Páez explores his inner world and its ramifications, accompanied by drummer Chris Elian, lead guitarist Chris López, and bassist Vic Jiménez, who sustain a structure that delivers the honesty of the lyrics through stark, yet colorfully melodic compositions. An apparent juxtaposition between energy and the loss of it generate a nostalgic sound-space in the midst of dense guitar riffs, heartfelt vocals and gleaming guitar leads. Drawing inspiration from their intimate island environment and hardships, the band often compose from Páez’s rhythmic backbone riffs complemented with drumming that stems from early 2000’s post-hardcore, and ever so tenuously bleeding latin grooves. Due to the relatively minute scale of the music scene in their hometown, they quickly became known from restlessly playing their debut EP “All Wave, No Goodbye” in every available venue of the island. In February 2016, after playing to 10,500+ people at the Coliseum of Puerto Rico opening the act for Fall Out Boy, their local popularity upsurged and the band went back to writing, producing their second EP “Bloom” under the wing of IndiePush Agency. After a year of healing from Hurricane Maria, Late Night Drive is now in the writing process of a third EP.
