Siggno, also known as Grupo Siggno, are a regional Mexican band from Santa Rosa, Texas specializing in a progressive brand of Tejano music that utilizes a wide variety of instruments from mandolins and keyboards to classic accordion, bajo sexto, and drums; stylistically, they crisscross conjunto with roots rock, folk, blues, R&B, and regional Tex-Mex sounds. While 2002's Por Amor received a BMI Music Award and their first Latin Grammy Award nomination, it took many years for the band to reach the industry charts. 2007's Capitulo and the following year's Six Pack were both nominated for Latin Grammys; the latter became the group's first recording to enter a music chart (Top Latin Albums). 2009's En La Radio marked Siggno's first entry on the Regional Mexican Albums list. It took until 2016's Yo Te Esperare for the group to score their first Top Latin Albums chart topper, though two previous outings -- 2014's En Vivo and 2015's Zodiacal -- peaked at the top of Regional Mexican Albums. Founded in 2000, the band is comprised of Jesse Turner (lead vocals, accordion), Joey Flores (background vocals, bajo sexto), Joseph Charles Scott (electric bass), Fabian Navarette (drums), David Rosas (congas, percussion), and Sergio Tabares (MC). Siggno made their full-length album debut with Al Principio (2001) on Crown Records. The album spawned the hit single "Pero Hablame" and led to a second album on Crown Records, Por Amor (2002). Siggno subsequently signed to a new record label, Serca Music, and released the album Caminando (2005). The band then switched to yet another label, Freddie Records, for its next album, Amor y Dolor (2006), which spawned the hit single "Mejor Dimelo." Successive albums on Freddie Records included Capitulo 5 (2007) and Six Pack (2008), both of which were nominated for Latin Grammys. 2009's En La Radio peaked at 19 on the Mexican Albums Charts and placed well inside the Top 40 at Top Latin Albums. While the following year's Que Harias didn't rise quite as high, two albums issued in 2012 -- Lo Que Me Dejaste and the compilation Nuestra Historia -- fared far better and touring revenues soared. The band worked to sold-out houses and festivals all over Mexico and the United States as their recordings remained strong at radio. 2013's El Mundo Se Acabo hit number four on Top Latin Albums. It was followed by the group's greatest success of all: 2015's Zodiacal placed number two on the same chart and 2016's Yo Te Esperare topped it. In addition, the latter two offerings peaked on top of the Mexican Regional Albums list and on genre streaming lists. After six months touring and writing, Siggno re-entered the studio and spent a year and a half recording. Emerging with Monstruo in the fall of 2018, the album hit the top of the Latin Albums streaming charts within hours of release; all three of its singles topped the charts as well, making it one of the most successful recordings of their career. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
