The Hope Social Club is an Alaskan band comprised of 5 very dear friends. We are led by Melissa Mitchell, a prolific songwriter, a dedicated mother, and one of the best singers in the State. She leads most of the songs, and is backed up by Spiff Chambers, another Alaskan singer / songwriter. They play acoustic guitars and add solid harmonies to each otehr's vocals. Our lead guitar and pedal steel player is Aaron Benolkin, a former member of the famous Alaskan band the Whipsaws. Our rhythm section is rounded out by two very capable artists, Tony Restivo on bass and Tim Haren on the drum kit and cajon. The sound of the Hope Social Club is difficult to describe, but once you hear it you know you want to hear more! We play all over South Central Alaska, and are looking to start playing the festival circuit in the lower 48. Our live performances are known for positive energy, great harmonies, and tight arrangements. Between the 5 current members, we have over 85 years of experience playing live music for our friends in Alaska. Our first self-titled album was released in February, 2017.
