Diabula Rasa members were born and raised in Ravenna, in the heart of Italy, where medieval history took a lot of plot twists. The founder, leader and frontman Luca Veroli has been breathing medieval music since childhood and he's developed an urgency to dig into ancient music belonging to different cultures. After many years of rambling performances, he embraced the mission to spread ancient music to young people. The secret ingredients for this recipe are: music research with a scientifical approach, a mix of medieval instruments and metal sounds, tailor-made barbarian costumes and an outstanding scenography. Not only performers, but also mad scientists and passionate music archaeologists: we study the source, the language, the culture and the melodies. We aim to give them another life that satisfies the modern ear, which is now sensitive to a different kind of sound. Latin, ancient German, Macedonian and other minor or forgotten languages deserve a second chance to cast their powerful magic over the audience. Diabula Rasa shakes off the dust of time, bringing rich music back to life through breathtaking shows. Today Diabula Rasa is the bridge between ancient tunes and modern eargasms: research is what allowed us to raise the bar of folk-metal.
