Milwaukee Native, Sebastian Oliva, otherwise known as “Chan,” is an electronic music producer and prides himself on not coming from a traditional music background. Starting off as a strong-willed novice with nothing but a free version of a music making software back in 2012, Chan has explored the music realm finding his niche somewhere between electronic dance music and the music of his culture. Throughout his career, now spanning more than eight years, his sound has evolved as he has channeled his Mexican roots for inspiration. He fuses traditional sounds with electronic, modern ones resulting in a colorful aural experience and repertoire. Chan’s sets range from moombahton to reggaeton, big room and more. Chan, being a first-generation son of immigrants, knows that nothing comes easy and that there are no shortcuts to success. For more than eight years, he has dedicated himself to music production without guidance but that of YouTube “how-to” videos in his childhood bedroom. Chan releases music every week, whether it be originals or “flips.” After numerous YouTube videos, attending workshops and networking events, his song, Amnesia, was played on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee in 2019.
