The storm swept through like any other Though our laughter put hush to the thunder I loved the bones of her I only pray that we rain together Though I could not shake that mournful sonder That the storm would only blow colder If all we have is what we see Then my lungs could fail me For I have all I need No daylight compares to thee As the morning came The sky stained grey Like a picture struck Our lives in still frames I was woken to discover The sky would shake with lightning in her fingers Over my doorstep her demeanour raven As she cried with contempt of a crime brushed crimson Oh the wickedness a storm like death can disguise Was it a twist of fate? Or an absence of God? I held her in my arms Though she never was the same again I swore not on vengeance but of retribution A God fearing boy knows to avoid such volution But what of our family, our bones bare the chill Of that sickening bastards maladious will If all I have is what I see Then my lungs could fail me For I have all I need No daylight compares to thee If all I am is what they see Then all I have is lungs to breathe What's left to take? Whilst the wind blows through me
