The Joy Formidable - Tendons - Spotify Session şarkı sözleri

Sanatçı: The Joy Formidable

albüm: Spotify Session

Careful of the morning, careful of the night
Careful of them hunting the ideas we leave behind
Those preachers and their stories, drunkards and their vows
We clung onto each other, there was no one else around
Tendons that we are, tendons stretched too far
Tangled up and heavy, winding steady
Tender in the dark, we're fractions of a star
Held above a story for a moment only
I can't decide (decide), one needs building (building)
And one needs digging (digging), and one needs filling in
This love, this love is like a swarm
We can't see through it, we can't hold thorns
Tendons that we are, tendons stretched too far
Tangled up and heavy, winding steady
Tender in the dark, we're fractions of a star
Held above a story for a moment only
Until it breaks clean, until it takes me
Until we hollow the thought
Nothing this close can enjoy permanence
I think I understand, the past is circling
Nothing that's lit can be in flames this long

You said I had all the fighting, maybe
Maybe it's something, maybe it's real
Not faded like flowers from yesterday's field
Aimless on a fated road
This life, it keeps us hunting
'Cause I'm not home
Throw my bones, empty me
Held so tight, it's all I see
Let your grief pour into me
Tell me now, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Let your grief pour into me
Tendons that we are, tendons stretched too far
Thank you
We're, uh, actually honored to have you guys debut that live for us, so thank you
Pleasure
Now you guys have, um, shared stages with folks like Foo Fighters
I remember Dave Grohl, like, broadcasting to the world his affection for your band
And you've toured around with Muse, what, what sort of lessons did you learn from being with those, kind of, arena rock stars on the road?
Well, I dunno about lessons, but, um, one thing that definitely stays in our mind, especially touring with the Foos
Is that, yknow, doesn't matter what stage you're at, uh, and what you've achieved, your successes, whatever, y'know
It doesn't cost anything to be decent, the Foos treated us so well, they treat all the bands with respect, and it goes down to the crew, everybody
Y'know, there's a sense of camaraderie when you're on tour with them
And I think it's really important we always carry that, uh, with, um, all the support bands that we take out, um, y'know
It's, it's not that difficult and it's not competition, it's actually, you get behind new bands and, uh, and, and treat them right, treat them with respect
Y'know, not just the bands, our crew as well, everybody had a, a wicked time, so that was a very, very special tour
Yeah, especially a band like the Foos as well, they still so fucking love gettin' up there every night and performing, y'know, they like
It's still all about the music, they're not jaded, so I think, y'know
We've had the odd experience where it teaches you to, y'know
If you're not fucking enjoying it anymore, and you're not, y'know, standing up there and, y'know, really kind of standing behind the songs that you've written then you should probably go and fucking do something else
So, uh, so, yeah, this is This Ladder Is Ours
