I've written down some words for you In an effort to convey Some of the things we both know but But now we'll never say 'Cause life has barreled on And so before the past becomes a blur I owe so much of who I am to who you were You ever notice when you're into a book The way they talk gets in your head? You start to find your thoughts look lots Like what the characters have said I think it's much like that When it comes to people from our past It's wild how these impressions of our firsts can really last Like a hitchhiker you swear you've seen before Flying fast past the passenger door Or like a boat long gone now away on a lake It's only now you're getting hit by the wake And driving just last month A couple times there in my car I caught a glimpse of who I was in who you are
