I fear I am lost forever
In this dark forest of mine
I've wandered resigned
Hoping to stumble on a sign
From the ground mist rises
I know not where I stand
The roots of the land
Keep me beyond my own command
This canopy that blocks out the sun
Leaves me undone
Preventing a birds eye view
Now I desire that no forest fire
Will ever return me to the soil
All these things behind me
I do not recognise my way
So here I will stay
And watch as the autumn leaves decay
And the wind, she whispers
"Give yourself to the ground"
How can I resist her?
To this place I am bound
This view of the world it takes me
Embraces me here like a vine
To stay for all time
As forest and me we intertwine
But naturally all things being one
My daughters and sons
Will line up to take their place
Under the sky I cannot deny
This dark dark forest is mine
