Narrator: When the morning was come, All the chief priests and elders of the people Took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death. And when they had bound Him, they led Him away And delivered Him to be tried of Pontius Pilate, The Roman governor. Pilate: Ye have brought this man unto me As one that perverted the people And behold! I have examined him before you, And I have found no fault in him, No, nothing for which death is worthy. I will therefore chastise him, and release him. Take him to be scourged! Now this is enough! Ahh! Pilate: Enough! Enough! Behold, is this not enough? Behold the Man, the punishment he's born The cruel whip, the mocking scorn. Man 1: Away with him! Man 2: His crimes have seen enough! John: Away with him! Pilate: Why? What evil hath he done? Both: If thou let this man go, Thou art no friend, but Caesar's foe. John: They see His pain. They see Him suffer. And still they cry out for His blood with no compassion. Pilate: For the feast I must release one prisoner John: If there's a God - Pilate: Whom shall I release then? Barabbas John: Oh, Lord, how long till Thou wilt cry It is enough? Pilate: What shall I do then with this Jesus? Mary: Is it enough? Is this not enough? Oh, Lord my God, show mercy on my son. Has not Thy will in this been done? Pilate: Speak now! Hast thou not had enough? Mary: Has not the bitter cup been emptied? Pilate: Art thou a king, then? Tell me. Mary: Is this not enough? Pilate: Knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee? And by that same power can release thee? And speakest thou not unto me? John: He sees their scorn - Pilate: What shall I do then with this Jesus - Man 1: Let him be crucified! John: He sees their hatred - Pilate: This Jesus ye call Christ? Man 2: Let him be crucified! John: He hears them cry out for His blood - Pilate: What evil hath he done? Man 1: He makes himself the Son of God - John: Oh, Lord, how long till Thou wilt cry - Pilate: Behold your King! Man 2: We have no king but Caesar! John: It is enough? Pilate: Shall I crucify your king? Enough! Enough. See ye to it. Narrator: And Pilate delivered Him to be crucified.
