People wake up every mornin' to be judged by their skin. I say it's not about their color but who they are within. Are they kind, helpful and real with you? Do they got a big heart and big smile too? Color don't define a personality But that stuff still happens in reality There's crackers, negros and beaners too But why say that? What'd they do to you? We all got names, we all got lives and we can all be strugglin' to survive It doesn't matter your income, if you're rich or you're poor Every single race should walk through the door It's called diversity. And personally? I'm sick of stereotypes 'cause they keep hurtin' me "Whites can't rap.", "Blacks end in jail", and "Mexicans are landscapers who are always there". Not everyone always applies to the saints 'Cause I'm a mixed baby and I'm here and layin' Down the facts And down the truth And I'm not leavin' room for you to argue. I'm speakin' my mind like I was taught to do By my Mama, my teachers and God too We all belong But life isn't fair 'Cause black to be every day without a care Not many thoughts are meant just to sit in your mind But leaving them in there ain't one of mine I just think it's whack because my skin ain't black I ain't considered that and can't speak of it. But I'm opening a window and flying 'em through To a land of diversity, a land bright and new. "Follow your heart" I was always told, So I'm now makin' a choice that's real real bold. To speak the truth and to recognize That some of the stuff that's happenin' just ain't right. So follow me if you agree with me, 'Cause like Doc King, I have a dream I've got the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression The most important laws are are always hella?? They have the knowledge you seek, but they won't let me speak 'Cause if you take a knee you bow down to these. Everything around us is held at oppression Electronics just happens to be the nations obsession Try to take advantage of our heads and our phones Blinding us I'm seeing our world going rogue Discrimination, a word used so freely these days Used to classify a race or sexuality Now used as a joke or for the wrong things Are our rights not serious Is our freedom not real Racial sources on our vocab don't help us learn Well that doesn't make us ignorant, crash and burn But maybe we, the people, can take a turn We can stand together and express our concern 1954 to 1968, Civil rights movement that ruled against segregation I just don't understand the point in discrimination In the words of M. J., a singer and a scholar, "I'm not gonna spend my life being of color" 'Cause Civil rights moving made my life exist Because Doc King Junior was a parts resistance Made races come together how it is today One problem: Some people's rights still cease to be And worse: I can't do nothin' about it But sing this song and work around it But speak the truth and recognize That some of the stuff that's happenin' just ain't right. So follow me if you agree with me, 'Cause like Doc King I have a dream Yo hang on, that's police Our world doesn't have to be dismal. And nobody should have to live fearful. We need to have love for our people. Diversity.
