The rebirth of Sex Virgin Killer was a huge surprise in 2021, after their activity suspension in 2018 with new faces: Aisha(vo), Knk(b), Hammer(dr), being led by the original Lilii Mar aka masa（vo, g). Their new EP “The Lights will Fall” envelopes not only characteristics that they revealed in 2021 but also brand new aspects of the band. SVK stands on their original interpretation of the forgotten sense of 1980s Metal-Core and Visual-Kei as contemporary Punk -new SVK elaborates their roots as a Hardcore Punk band by an rawer aggression, while ingesting Positive Punk, Gothic, Death Rock and Horror Punk moods, which is composed of Aisha’s evil and hypnotising vocals, unerring beats by Knk and Hammer, and Masa’s inimitable melody lines. The title track of the new EP “The Lights will Fall”, which evokes early Dead Can Dance or Visual-kei as Post Punk, should become a milestone in their evolution. Especially, Aisha’s innocent vocal is very much iconic. When you listen along with the 2nd track Devil (as a new mix by Atsuo, Boris), you immediately understand that SVK certainly retains a same original attitude in every sound that they create. The symbolic track mixed by Shinobu Narita is remarkable too. His interpretation even more strongly outlines SVK’s presence through the mood that reminds you of Specimen and Midge Ure. The track should be attractive to fans of URBAN DANCE, or D'ERLANGER、D'espairsRay and PIERROT, which also were mixed by Shinobu in past. Chifumi Kubota
