I was raised by the waters running close to my home Taught by the mountains that won't let me roam Some call it prison, some their green mountains home Everybody is mocking about this and that Its an ongoing story, they still struggle with their past You gotta stand your ground and you never would run If you ran out of words, your fist got the things done Your future is a friend with pretty quick feet Leaving you burned and forlorn But these green mountains will stay my home Until my flesh Is falling off my bones Be careful with words they don't need long to spread But be forgotten by the morning, vanished under some old hat Every rumor bounces back in a way you won't expect I should get on a boat that takes me away from here Because my mouth is saying things my ears don't wanna hear I wasted too many years, dripping tears in my beer I guess I ain't any different than the people round here My roots in the ground, my head's in the clouds I have to admit I am kind of proud Of these green mountains that will stay my home Until my flesh is falling of my bones
