This is a sculpture Not these words per se But the physical impact of their sound on the natural world This composition consists of the physical space that is disturbed By the rendering of these words It is the turbulence in the air caused here in my home by the sound of my voice as I record this Every surface it reflects off Penetrates into And passes through along the way Contributes to its shape and helps set its physical boundaries Every electrical impulse It is converted into Every neuron That comprises the thoughts Influenced by the sound of these words And every sound produced as a result of the thoughts those neurons comprise Are the almost imperceptible channels by which its physical nature persists Expands And evolves It exists across time Lurching into explosive growth Quickly dissipating And leaving only the most minute impact remaining in the minds of those who hear it Until it is once again poured out into the world It is real and tangible and significant It is transient and it is persistent It is personal and it is universal It is private and it is contiguous It is finite and it is immeasurable It is wholly unique And utterly ordinary
