In times past When the stars still shone Deep in the hills, two roads wound on One was walked by the Pale Moon Whose shaded feet promised that soon Night would fall, and the trees could sigh Heavy with sleep so dreams might fly On the other Stepped the Blazing Sun Her bright face lets the day out to run In her soft resplendent meadows Where flowers adorn the hedgerows From one road The other could be seen And each being would of the other dream In their dreams they'd walk together The Moon spilling black shadows like feathers That would line the path for the Sun And ease her feet that softly run their sweet light Across the path Greeting flowers cherishing the dark From one road The other could be seen And each being would of the other dream Hand in hand they'd walk the hills Soul to soul if they had their will And yet only in dreams do the paths converge As they walk only between trees do emerge Glimpses of their lonely faces stepping through The beautiful places built carefully by their falling feet The beguiling night Built high with towers And rising steeples And perfumed hours Or the bright day, leaves glowing in light And flower maidens Dancing at the sight Their sweet sorrow smells heavy like flowers in the rain Or borrowed time from separate paths Their hearts entwine From one road The other could be seen And of each other they would dream And of each other They would dream
