From the smallest cell to the greatest scar
This relentless virus has travelled far
Sustained by an eagerness to learn
Our collective ignorance will make us burn
These wandering creatures now breed to unend
Hold claim to a fate we know is pretend
Weak as a feather, we break one by one
Truth will consume until we're all gone
Without a struggle we cannot evolve
No fearsome threat to test our resolve
Unfold into slumber, sedated and weak
Broken by musings of which we don't speak
Simple souls seek an outward assailant
Greater minds know we'll fall from within
Slowly we fly, higher and higher
We'll implode long before the sun burns our wings
Am I cursed with eyes that see
Should I swim in the blinded sea
Is my pain unfounded or just
Can we change or just turn to dust
Our minds are frayed
Worn by all this unrest
Our hearts betrayed
Scorn by men who know best
I'll wear this guilt like a scar on my chest
