It's a lonely place when no one is home There's a rickety chair and a good strong rope She heard the clamour of the wood to the floor He left nothing to mop; now her back's so sore From carrying that body to the bottom floor No she never should have left him all alone At least he can't try it again The jingle and the jangle from the chains that fit To her highness; she's now gotta bear within She's all locked up in her tower; she'll pace She's an old, lame mare still trying to race It's taken a toll that she can't face Well, she should've just left well enough alone Somebody ought to leave her all alone She'll do it again and again and again and again I'm trying to get out of the state I'm in I wanna go to the land where the weather is good I can't afford a train or a Greyhound fare I thought of hitchhiking but I hate the rain Guess I've got no right to complain Just don't leave me here standing all alone You should never leave a quiet man alone
